Wolverhampton Primary Care Trust
Wolverhampton Primary Care Trust
work with the partnership through their
role in the Health Through Warmth scheme.
An example of their work is shown in the following
case study.
Mrs. Waruszynska is an elderly Polish lady who
suffered a stroke resulting in difficulties communicating. She was
referred to the Wolverhampton Falls Prevention Service having had a
number of falls because of her poor balance and mobility. On visiting
her, it was discovered that she used only one room during the day
because of her inadequate heating system. Following the home
assessment she was referred to the Health Through Warmth scheme.
In September 2004, Health Through Warmth approached
Saskia Poller, of Wolverhampton Primary Care Trust, as they had been
unable to make contact to arrange a site visit. Saskia was able to
arrange a joint visit with herself and a surveyor from Affordable
Warmth shortly afterwards.
At a joint meeting with
Hestia earlier this year, she
found that the nominated contractor had also had difficulty in
contacting Mrs. Waruszynska and in fact all attempts at that time had
proved unsuccessful. Once again, Saskia was able to carry out a joint
visit.
Mrs Waruszynska's application has now been submitted
to Wolverhampton City Council and subject to approval, work is
expected to commence shortly.
